What we aim for
Every page and every calculator should work for everyone, including people using a keyboard, a screen reader, screen magnification or a phone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What is in place
- Every calculator field has a written label and a unit, and every result updates as you type.
- Everything works with a keyboard. There is nothing to drag: every value is typed or chosen from a list.
- Buttons and fields are at least 24 pixels tall on a phone, and the pages fit a phone screen without sideways scrolling. Our automated tests check both on every page.
- The pages follow your device’s light or dark setting, and the text can be enlarged in your browser.
- A “Skip to the calculator” link on the home page lets keyboard users go straight to the tool.
What we have not checked yet
The site has not had an independent accessibility audit. The bar that draws your day on the home page shows the same figures as the text beside it. A screen reader may not read the bar, so use the figures beside it. We have not yet tested every page with every screen reader.
Tell us about a problem
If anything on the site gets in your way, email [email protected] with the page and what happened. We will reply, fix it where we can, and give you the information you needed in another way in the meantime.
