The formula
Productivity % = actual output ÷ target output × 100
This is the general-purpose version. It works for units produced, tasks completed, minutes delivered or anything else, provided both figures use the same unit.
Worked example
Example: 340 units against a target of 400 is 85.0%. The 60-unit shortfall is 15 percentage points.
Common questions
Is 85% good?
It depends on the target. A percentage against an easy target and one against a demanding target are not comparable, so the number alone tells you little.
How is this different from the therapy version?
Therapy productivity divides treatment minutes by paid minutes. This calculator divides actual output by target output.
Can it go above 100%?
Yes, when actual output exceeds the target. If it is well above 100% week after week, the target may need another look.
