The formula
Needed each day = (target × total days − average so far × days worked) ÷ days left
The week averages to target when (average so far × days worked) + (needed each day × days left) equals target × total days.
Worked example
Two days at 74% against an 85% target, with three days left. (85 × 5 − 74 × 2) ÷ 3 = 277 ÷ 3 = 92.3% a day. On a 450-minute paid day that is 416 treatment minutes. It is 7.3 points above target, more than 5, so the verdict is “Steep, but possible”.
Common questions
Why is the week easier to recover early?
A shortfall is shared across the days left. Two bad days with three to go needs 7.3 points above target each day. The same two bad days with only one day left would need 107%, which is out of reach.
What if my days are different lengths?
Then weight by minutes instead. Add up the treatment minutes and paid minutes for the week so far, and work out the minutes you need over the paid minutes left. The therapist productivity calculator does a single day.
What do the verdict words mean?
On track means days at your target from here are enough to finish the week on target. Recoverable means up to 5 points above target each day. Steep means more than 5 points above. Not reachable means you would need more than 100%.
